This little tutorial explains or rather tries to explain how to extract an image from it’s back ground using the pen tool. Please bear in mind that this is not Hollywood and there was no script. This little movie was created more or less on the fly with very little thought before hand as to how I should do it.

Nice tutorial. It's really gonna make cutting things out a lot easier than the eraser tool.

Well you are more than welcome. As to “thingies”, well the world is full of confusing thingies. As for me, I am surrounded by then and really don’t think I will ever learn what all of them do. :lol:

WOW! 3 Thank you’s and I was worried that it was ---- how shall we say, not well prepared. LOL, well I still think that. Once you spend some more time with the pen tool and learn it's uses I am sure you will understand just how lacking this was. My first attempt was better but the completed file was some 16MB. A tad much for a 10 min movie, LOL.

Any way I am, as always yapping too much.

Yepper, it is much better. There are lots of ways to extract an image, the pen tool is only one. If you have been using the eraser try a mask or fine tuning some things. You may find that that is just the ticket for you depending on the approach you are taking.
